In this [play]shop we will explore how to enhance personal power and implement personal and social change through use of your imagination, dreams, play, and creativity.

The purpose of this experiential [play]shop is to provide useful tools for putting your imagination, play, and creativity to ‘work’ for holistic healthcare providers who seek to establish their own personal authority and unique contributions in their work. Through courageous and playful action both personal and social change can be channeled.

Utilizing a variety of play forms participants can expect to benefit from learning ways to build a strong foundation of essential leadership styles: drive, organizational, collaborative, and visioning while developing their own sense of personal authority for personal empowerment to effect individual and social change for the greater good. During the course of the workshop participants will challenge themselves to ‘play’ with what it means to be effective leaders and advocate for optimal health and mental health care. Our playful journey together will start with simple play forms often experienced solo or in pairs and then we will broaden our play into small groups and the larger group as a whole.  During our play we will take the time to stop, notice, and 'witness' so that we can savor what is experienced in the moment.

Hands-on playful and creative experiences will help participants stretch their comfort zones, become more adaptive, write and communicate better, improve collaborative efforts, provide more effective critiques, develop better ideas, and increase their competency for working as a team.

Our Trainer:

Mary Alice Long, PhD, creator of Play=Peace™, is a Jungian therapist who emphasizes the importance and benefits of play. Dr. Long is a working artist and writer who earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.  Her education and background spans the fields of parent, maternal-child, and health education; nursing, social work, psychology, and the arts.
She is an entertaining and interactive trainer who utlizes hands-on playful and creative experiences for a great learning experience.
