Playfully Engaging Children in Managing Life's Transitions
Everyone and every age level experiences loss. Loss, either through death, divorce, a parent's deployment or other life transitions can result in devastating trauma or serve as an opportunity for growth. This highly interactive and fun filled training will:

Expand  knowledge base on grief and loss
Identify reactions to grief and loss based on the child’s  developmental age
Identify appropriate responses needed based on a child’s age and maturation level
Provide participants with an extensive book list for using Bibliotherapy with children to address loss
Provide a wide variety of hands-on activities, game and helpful resource materials to extend the use                    of Bibliotherapy
Therapeutic play and art activities to assist children in developing effective coping strategies for                    healing and transformation.
Provide participants with materials and resources to assist parents in their responses to transition and                    loss.
Discuss ethics as it  relates to working with children and parents

Diane Cantrell, LPC-S began her career in education teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Transitional First Grade.  She also worked as a counselor providing assistance to parenting teens in a local school district.  As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Diane has provided therapy for adults, families, and children in agencies and private practice settings.  As part of her private practice, she has offered parent training to her clients and parents in the community.  She frequently speaks to community groups, provides training for CEU’s, and supervises LPC interns.  Diane has also authored two award winning books.   Good-bye, Baby Max, a children’s picture book received a gold medal Mom’s Choice award in the Life Lessons category while Riley’s Lost Tooth, received a silver medal in the category called Growing Up.

These trainings are approved for CEs by NBCC, NASW, CRC, APA, CA Board of Behavioral Sciences, FL Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy & Mental Health Counseling, Florida Board of Psychology, Florida Council of Licensed Midwifery & Massage Therapy, TX LPC, MFT, SW and LADC Boards, OH Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board, DC Board of Nursing, NCBTMB and in OK with the LPC, LMFT and LADC boards.
